Mobile ad network Greystripe has published research on the way consumers engage with free iPhone applications. The findings are based on interaction with the 600 or so apps in its network which includes EA Mobile’s first ad-supported mobile game, Lemonade Tycoon. OK. We’re not quite there yet, but viable alternatives to traditional television are definitely gaining some traction. Nielsen is reporting a surge in online video streaming with YouTube and Hulu at number 1 and 2 respectively. Both offer TV shows and movies (YouTube as of this week)…the stuff you would normally watch on a television. [...]

Wondering where to go when you gotta go? Check out SitOrSquat.com — a social network utility designed to help decent people locate decent public restrooms. Download their GPS-enabled app to your iPhone or Blackberry and you, too, can find, rate and review toilets around the world. Literally! Since its launch last December, SitOrSquat has logged more than 52,000 toilets in 10 countries (which is not nearly enough, by the way). They’ve also had more than 1,600 downloads of their mobile apps. (Make that 1,601.)
